When buying fireworks, you need to ensure you are aware of the legal issues surrounding fireworks and that you comply with the law.
Purchase of fireworks
Fireworks are separated into 4 categories:-
Category F1 – very low hazard
Category F2 – low hazard
Category F3 – medium hazard
Category F4 – high hazard.
You must be 18 years old or older to purchase category F2 and F3 fireworks, including sparklers. Category F4 fireworks must not be sold or used by a member of the public, they are reserved for professional use only.
Mini-rockets, bangers, firecrackers, fireworks of erratic flight are all prohibited fireworks.
Use of fireworks
It is against the law to set off a firework between 11pm and 7am, except on certain occasions. These times are extended until midnight on Bonfire Night and 1am on New Years Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year.

Sale of fireworks.
Fireworks (including sparklers) must only be sold for private use between 15th October and 10th November, 26th and 31st December and 3 days prior to Diwali and Chinese New Year.
At any other times of the year fireworks can only be purchased from licensed shops.
In conclusion, failure to comply with the law can result in substantial consequences. The illegal sale or use of fireworks can attract a fine up to £5000 and/or 6 months imprisonment.
