When are you open?

We are open 8.45am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4pm on a Friday in our offices in Chester, Wrexham and Llanrwst. Our criminal department provide a 24 hour service on 365 days a year.

What type of instructions do you handle?

We are a full service firm, meaning we provide all kinds of personal and business legal services, which are listed in the links.

How much will it cost?

Costs vary depending on how complex a matter is, but our charges are based on the time we will spend on your case. Our fees are communicated to you before you instruct us to do work on your behalf. In some circumstances, we can offer a fixed fee service and if this is applicable to you, we will inform you. We offer a competitive pricing structure.

Are you a Legal Aid firm?

We believe access to justice should be available to all, and subsequently are proud to offer Legal Aid for aspects of family and criminal law. Legal Aid is subject to means testing. You can find out more here.

How long will my matter take?

Every matter is different and will take a different amount of time. We will be open and honest with you when we begin your matter with how long we anticipate your work will take and we will inform you as soon as we suspect this might change.

How do I know you are qualified?

The practising certificate guarantees that the solicitor is qualified to practise and has insurance to protect you if anything goes wrong. All of our solicitors and legal executives are qualified, however if you want to be sure, please feel free to ask to see the certificate or contact the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Allington Hughes has received the Law Society’s Lexcel quality mark which proves we have good standards of practice in place.

Do I have a specific lawyer assigned to me? How will I know their skills and experience?

You will always have a specific lawyer assigned to you. You can view the skills and experience of our team here. If for some reason the person assigned to you is not in the office and you have an urgent query, we have a team of experts who will be able to assist you.

Do I have to come into the office to meet you?

We can communicate in face-to-face meetings, via email or over the phone. If a client is unable to come to the office for a meeting due to health reasons, we can offer home visits.

How do I prepare for a meeting?

If there is anything we need you to have prepared prior to the meeting or anything you need to bring to the meeting, we will inform you in a timely manner. We would always recommend that you think carefully about the details of your case – write a list of the main points you want to make or the questions you want to ask and also bring any paperwork that might be relevant. This will make it quicker and easier for your solicitor to understand your circumstances and give you proper advice.

Will my personal details be safe?

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We limit access to your personal data to the employees, agents, contractors and other third parties with a business need to know. All staff are fully trained on data protection and all of those who are showed your data are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to – primarily for the provision of legal services as stated in your signed contract and instructions. The use of this information is subject to the Data Protection Act, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulations and our duty of confidentiality.

Can you take over from my current solicitor? 

Yes of course. Please do get in touch if you wish for us to take over your matter. Our legal experts will ensure the transition is as smooth as possible for you.
