Melissa Bramwell

Melissa is Head of our Business department. She strives to ensure that the team is on hand to provide you with clear and concise advice and assistance that protects you and your business interests. The team will guide you from the very beginning of your business journey right up to the end, if you look to sell the business, and everything in between.

Melissa specialises in employment and corporate law and is a TCM Accredited Workplace Mediator.

Melissa has extensive experience in advising individuals and businesses in different sectors, including manufacturing, construction, financial services, IT and hospitality. Melissa has a particular interest in advising on employment status, restrictive covenants, TUPE, whistle blowing and family rights and has successfully defended multi-million pound claims. She has worked in employment law since her qualification.

She is able to offer employment law advice and assistance on a retainer basis where she assesses this as being suitable and of financial benefit to your business.

Melissa is keen to work with businesses to achieve swift solutions where conflict in the workplace arises, whether that be with employees or directors, and is available to offer workplace mediation in person or virtually.

She also advises and assists business in corporate and commercial matters, including advising upon and drafting corporate documents e.g. shareholder/partnership agreements, terms of business to dealing with share buy-backs and company sales and acquisitions.
Melissa recently dealt with the following transactions:-

• Asset sale of a multi-million pound fishery
• Share purchase of a local podiatry company
• Negotiating a settlement agreement for a sales manager at a supermarket chain
• Advising a local gym in connection with employment status for its personal trainers and drafting contracts
• Advising upon and drafting corporate documents in connection with a share exchange

Melissa joined Allington Hughes in 2004 as an office junior and floating legal secretary before beginning her studies in 2006 on a distance learning basis to become a Chartered Legal Executive.

In 2007 she became an assistant to the employment and personal injury partner when she began to establish her own client base. Melissa qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2012.

Melissa regularly speaks at seminars on employment law issues and is actively involved with networking groups and charities.
