Non Molestation Orders

A Non Molestation order prevents a person from behaving in a certain way. This can include restrictions such as being violent or aggressive, communicating with you by text message, phone calls and social media, coming within a certain distance of your home address or intimidating or threatening you. The terms of a Non Molestation Order can be tailored to meet the specifics of your case.

The law says you can apply for a Non Molestation Order against someone who is ‘associated’ to you. This can include individuals who have been married, have lived together or have been civil partners, have been in an intimate relationship or have children together. Associated persons can also include relatives such as parent, step-parent, sibling, aunt or uncle.

A breach of a Non Molestation Order is a serious matter as it amounts to a criminal offence, which will be dealt with by the Police and, if appropriate, the Criminal Court. It is important to report breaches of a Non Molestation Order to the Police as soon as possible. Non Molestation Order are only as effective as you are in reporting breaches.

We are here to support you to ensure you get the right support that you need, dependent on your circumstances and vulnerabilities.
